    backlinking

How Content Marketing has helped reshape SEO Backlinking into a new technique of earning links and shares.

The recent rumours of the death of link building appear to have been greatly exaggerated. Although a more accurate description might now be Link Earning rather than Link Building.

That’s because the primary method of gaining backlinks now needs to be through creating awesome content, which earns links and shares from real web users.

This method of Content Marketing was the hot topic of the day at the recent BrightonSEO conference which the Webscape team attended (read a full roundup of the day on Josh Whiten’s personal blog).

Careers Advice Start Up to Target First Time Workers with Support of Webscape

myworkinglifeWebscape has been commissioned to help support the launch of an exciting new start up careers portal which takes an interesting angle on providing advice.

Unlike most careers advisory services which help young people decide which career to pursue, MyworkingLife.co.uk aims to help people settle in to working life for the first time.

The website contains a wealth of advice and information to help answer the questions which new employers or training providers often overlook, especially those questions which apprentices, interns or graduates starting a new job may want to ask.

Webscape will be helping to develop a new social media strategy for the brand to include researching target market segments, developing key messages and creating an ongoing content strategy to assist with social media management.

How to Improve Your SEO Using Google+ Authorship

Discover how to use your Google+ profile to improve rankings of content you’ve authored online, such as blog posts, articles and guides.

Josh Whiten at Digital in KentThis guide is adapted from a Speed Session presentation I gave at the third Digital in Kent conference on 26/03/14, which seemed to get a  great response from the audience; so much so that we have enhanced the original presentation with additional features (a bit like the bonus tracks on an album) because lets face it there’s only so much you can pack into a 7 minute presentation.

So with the aim of being an Open Business, as inspired by David Cushman’s keynote address at digikent, we are going for The Full Monty – complete disclosure on this technique even though it is one of our top SEO tools of the moment!

Here it is then, your definitive guide to using Google+ authorship for SEO, illustrated with slides from my talk…

Life in a Kent Digital Marketing Agency

life at webscape marketingWhat’s it really like to work in a digital marketing agency? We asked some of the team from Webscape Marketing in Kent to reveal all.

What key qualities do you need to be a digital expert and more importantly, what do you actually do all day long, apart from playing with Twitter?

We asked Jess, Ellie and Kassidy from the Webscape team for their thoughts on a range of digital related questions and their answers reveals that working in digital keeps on your toes, but is all the better for it…

Working in digital – tell us more:

The general view is that digital is both fast moving and interesting. The team find the pace fast moving as digital is constantly changing but this also makes the work interesting as ‘you have to learn loads of new things daily due to the ways in which the internet changes’ plus the fact that ‘you are never doing the same thing twice’ according to Jess. The work is also kept interesting through getting ‘a real insight as to how different companies market their business online through social media’ adds Ellie.

    1. You Can Reach Even More Potential Customers

Recent figures suggest that roughly one in four people currently use social media. To put that into context, a quarter of the Earth’s entire population are tweeting, facebooking, pinning and clicking as we speak. By 2017, the global social network audience is expected to total 2.55 billion people. That’s a lot of digital conversations. So how can food brands leverage social media and join in with these users? Read on to find out.

    2. Social Media Users Love Rich Content

Rich content is the secret sauce for social media success. Curating great, engaging content is a sure fire way to grab attention and build an audience during your fledgling social media campaigns. By rich content I mean: cool videos, attention grabbing images, interesting infographics, and well written blogs and articles. Fortunately, if you’re working in the food and drink sector, you may already have a lot of this type of content stockpiled and sitting unloved on your own website! Whether it’s eye-catching product photos and how-to videos or recipe blogs and guides, there are plenty of tools at your disposal to get people talking and engaging with your brand. Sites like Pinterest can be a fantastic source of traffic if you upload and tag your images correctly. The key is to find the channels your target audience is using, and invest some time in making sure your content is unique and engaging for users on that platform.
